Breathes life into foreign power tools
By McVitie
As a Brit living in the US, I have a lot of power tools that work on 240V/50Hz and now easy way to run them. I researched the 50Hz vs 60Hz issue and figured with simple motors it is not a great problem when used for occasional home improvement. The motors spins 20% faster, but that has not been a bad thing so far. This transformer is heavy, but I also brought over a 100ft extension cord so generally leave the transformer in one place and run a cord to the work area. It does have a carrying handle which is good. Have not needed the spare fuses so far (since July 07).Runs a circular saw, jigsaw, hammer drill and sander. The tools are good quality and replacement cost would far exceed the cost of the transformer.Recommended.
