Portable Power
By JAMES
My use model: Between client meetings I need to charge my laptop's battery. 75% of the time, I am somewhere other than my home city so I can't just leave an inverter in the car. This unit is small and light enough to sit in my laptop roller bag next to the AC adapter for my laptop. Between meetings I can quickly pull it out, plug it in, and go. In my case, I am powering a Macbook Pro which has a 60W Power Supply. After about a month of use, I have had no issues. (Being an electrical engineer, I understand how these work and I expect no issues unless there is a faulty component.)Some people might be bothered by the fan noise, however, it is a necessary evil. Instead of letting it annoy me, I use it as an indication. When my laptop stops charging it draws less current allowing the fan to slow down. When I hear this, I know my laptop is fully charged.4 Stars because there is no power switch on the unit. The inverter "automatically" powers down. Trouble is, I don't trust anything that is inexpensive and "automatic." Instead, I unplug it after every use which isn't a major issue but it is enough to dock it a star.

Loud, fan cycling
By JD
When I first plugged the unit in the fan came on for a few seconds then shut off. After plugging in a laptop it came on but didn't stay running and started cycling on and off every two seconds or so. After disconnecting the laptop it kept cycling. Unplugged it, plugged it back in, and it continued cycling. Maybe I got a bad one, but besides that it's loud, very loud. Sound like a small blow dryer. It's going back.

Fabulo-so In The Car
By Michael Cook
Works great. It likes air conditioning as it does get warm. The swivel is mandatory in a rental car with various configurations of the center console gear shift. The USB charger is handier than you would think. Buy it now, rather than on the road when you will pay $50.
