The Targus 100W Slim Line Mobile Inverter is designed for the mobile professional or recreational user. It provides a power source for most electrical devices in RVs, cars, airplanes or boats. PROs: Cheap *where I got it*. Fuse. 100 watts! That's enough to charge a big laptop while it's running, and more, however...CONs: I noticed that if my car is OFF, the unit doesn't put out enough juice (using my 1-year-old 12 V car battery) to simultaneously run and charge my laptop via its 85-Watt adapter. (Perhaps not such a bad thing to pull less juice if it doesn't seem the battery isn't up to the job; I'd rather not have a dead battery!)More importantly: The USB & AC connectors are too close together. And did I say it's LOUD? It's LOUD.Wow, this is loud. I chatted with Targus to ask if mine is defective. Even on a cold day when I don't have anything pulling current from it, the fan runs fast AND *loud* AND moves very little air. I've only used it for a few hours. Targus' Kathleen said this issue warranted a repair under the 1 year warranty, but then I realized I got a refurb unit, so the 30-day refurb warranty expired before I'd even used it for the first time. I guess I'll live with using it plugged in in the trunk, which muffles the noise somewhat. Some reviewers elsewhere say it's readily covered up by a radio, but I and others disagreed. This is a great item for traveling a great way to keep the video player going for hrs while on the road and to items charged up..
