This product does not deserve its one star rating which is not based on the product at all but on misinformation (apparently it was accidentally described as a dimmer it clearly is not). Star ratings are meant to be for the product being sold, if you have a problem with the description or seller that should be in the seller review or a side note on your product review.If you want to remotely turn on/off anything that plugs into a power outlet, and have the additional option of setting a timer of when it should turn off/on 1hr, 3hr, 6hr, 9hr, etc. It works great. I only wish the timer settings were different. For my use, 30m, 1hr, 3hr, 6hr would be better. This device will likely pay for itself as it allows you to turn something off that may normally be left on for longer periods, due to things like inconvenient power switch location.

Obviously this unit does not meet everyone's needs, but does exactly what I was looking for, and does it flawlessly. I have a small reading lamp on my headboard. I was always waking up and finding my light still on. In addition to the energy consumption, I understand that sleep under a lighted lamp is not as good sleep as in the dark. Now when I lie down to read myself to sleep, I turn on this little lamp, use the remote to turn the lamp off in an hour, and I drift to sleep and when I wake up the lamp is off. I have used the Velcro to mount the remote holder on the nightstand -- readily available if I need to get up in the night -- and again -- just turn it on for an hour and forget about it.This is a great product!NuGiant 34000 Wireless Remote Control Wall Outlet

I got this control to replace a manual outlet timer (the kind that has a wind up knob, and fails after 6 months). I've been through 6 of those, even though the amperage rating was more than sufficient. I didn't really need the remote control feature. As far as I can determine, it is the only good alternative to the old timer type (there is another model & make which seems too fragile). I don't know yet if it will last much longer than the wind-up style, but it seems solid, and the price is good. It also looks better than my old arrangement using an external outlet box.I needed what I thought was 6 hours of "on", but this timer seems to run a little longer than the old style did for a 6hour setting, and you can't reduce it by a few minutes.I use it to turn off a water distiller, before it runs dry and makes a mess. So I put a little more water in, and include some ice cubes, and it works fine.
