5Made in U.S.A.

After reading stories about RV owners experiencing a surge, low voltage or bad ground which seems to be the biggest problems; then the financial cost of the repairs, I bought one. With all the electronics in the RV plus the additional items like plugging in a lap top, cell phone, eBook reader, ice maker, etc...A low voltage, bad ground or surge could cost hundreds or thousands to replace or repair all the appliances and wiring; plus the protection of a possible "open ground" or "ground fault" that could lead to electrical shock and result in personal injury. There are 2 major brands: Technology Research Corporation (TRC) Surge Guard and Progressive Industries. I had a TRC brand product for a couple of years and then I purchased a Progressive Industries product. The reason I bought a Progressive Industries product are as follows:1. Made in U.S.A. (TRC not made in America)2. Lifetime Warranty (TRC 1 year warranty)3. Surge Indicator: If surge protection failure occurs within the system, the Progressive product has a "Surge Indicator" that alerts you of the system failure. (TRC does not have this; the TRC product will continue to operate but provide no protection)4. Open Ground Protection: If the pedestal is not ground properly your RV will still operate but you and your RV become the ground; this is not safe5. High/Low Voltage Protection6. Time Delay for A/C Compressor7. 3-Mode Surge Protection8. Reverse Polarity Protection9. Open Neutral Protection10. AC Frequency Protection11. Accidental 240V Protection12. Built-in Lock Bracket: Allows the unit to be secured to the power source to prevent theft13. Made in the U.S.A. and Lifetime Warranty

2Worked well when plugged into garage 110v outlet **(UPDATE BELOW)
By Dissapointed...
I'll be using this next week at an RV campsite so I'll revise should my experience change. From what I've read this is one of the best on the market - let's hope so! I wish the security ring was a little beefier as someone with a pliers could cut through it.**UPDATE: I've asked for a replacement unit as the last 3 times I've used it, the product has failed. I bought the unit in April, and after 3 unsuccessful (both at home and at campgrounds) attempts at using it, I took it to a local dealer to see if they could troubleshoot the problem (they replicated the problem I was having). No matter what type of power I'm hooked up to (110 from home or 30 amp at a campsite), the unit has difficulty transferring power to my TT. I literally have to unplug and replug the until for it to even attempt to send power, and once it does send power it cuts out after a few minutes. No error codes show up on the LED, and the power is consistantly between 112-120. The last straw was this past weekend when I arrived back at my trailer at a campground and the power had been off for some time (no AC, and I had to throw out everything in my fridge because I was set up to use power verses gas). It should be noted I removed the unit and hooked up my power directly to both the campground hookup and my 110 at home and everything fired up the second I plugged it in sans the Progressing Industries PT30C 30 amp PEMS and stayed powered.I'm requesting a replacement unit in hopes to not ask for a full refund. This unit seems to be the best you can buy and I want that quality I paid for. I will update here how my return goes.

5It saved my Travel Trailer
By duane harris
I purchased this Electrical Management System (EMS) back during the winter. I've used it every time we went camping. Two weeks ago I was at a State Park in Michigan and the (EMS) shut everything down. I was like what the heck! Then I thought, oh the (EMS) is doing it's job. I went to check to see what the error code was and it read low voltage was detected. Two minutes later every thing in the trailer kicked back on. I must stress!!!! If you camp and plug in, you must have this! I just got my Trailer last October. I would've been pretty upset if my electrical equipment have gotten fried! Also, the product is American made in North Carolina.
