the wagan elite 1000watt pure sine inverter does what it is supposed to do.it converts 12 volt dc battery power to high grade ac electric.I have one attached to a battery bank which is used to power my pc many of my household lites and my entertainment system as well as my passive timer.the only thinng i don't like about any inverter is this.electronic alarm clocks tend to lose time over time when powered via an inverter.However i beleive that solar panel charging of battery banks to run most of the house far out weighs this little disadvantage.

I bought this originally for my wind generator but that project is going too slow so I put it in my truck. I installed a battery isolator and an additional battery to run this inverter. I plugged a drill into it as soon as I was done setting it up and was pleasantly surprised at the power that it put out. Only recommendation is that the cables that come with it probably need upgrading in order to allow the least amount of resistance from your battery bank to the inverter. I'm using 2 Guage. I would recommend this without hesitation.

This inverter lasted 7 hours before dying, the load was well below 1000w and the red light came on and never went off even after disconnecting it from the batteries and re-installing it. The unit is toast, the company lines are busy and no one has returned my phone calls.After reading the previous 2 reviews I reco0mmend not buy anything from wagan. i am poor, live off the grid and cannot afford to replace it which means i am stuck with intermittent power from a generator.*****UPDATE*****one month after returning the inverter and still nothing. 9 days ago i called customer service and was told I did not include proof of purchase. Well, I did, but even if I didn't they had all my contact information and never called or emailed me. so I emailed me a copy and called back in a few days and the customer service woman, I always get the same one too, had to find my email. Oh, ok I found it and will send it to accounting. I called today and was told it will be over a week before it will be shipped.I live off the grid and have no more money I am forced to live off a generator until I get my inverter, this has been a very expensive lesson.************UPDATE***********after 2 attempts with replacement inverters I gave up. i kept the last one but it cannot even handle a 1000 watt surge yet alone function at 1000 watts plus it puts out noise along the power cords that makes using it with a lap top impossible due to the mouse not functioning correctly. This happens as you drain down the batteries & they could not reproduce it in their shop.I bought a 400 watt energizer inverter and have been very happy with it ever since; the wagan is a back up
