Cheap Junk

These inverters are unreliable made in China crud. Try Die Hard from Sears. I've had zero failures on the Die Hards.

AIMS 1000W power inverter
By johniac
I ordered this 1000W inverter based on satisfaction on having the AIMS 400W model. Amazon was running a discount and the specs looked great. Standard shipping from the supplier took the full 10-14 days.Notes: This item does not include cables and the cooling fan always runs. 1000W at 120VAC = 8.3 Amps continuous.I tested it out using a car battery on my main target- a full size refrigerator rated at 4.5 Amps, and it worked fine. Next tried a 13 cu ft upright freezer rated at 3.5 Amps and could not get past the start-up surge. Also tried a circular saw rated at 6A and again could not get past the start-up surge-- even tried quick cycling the power switch to get the motor spinning and still wouldn't work. This was disappointing because I tried this trick on the 400W model and got the saw to spin.I very highly doubt the stated overload rating, and I wonder if even the 1000W continuous rating is accurate. It works for my intended primary purpose, but I kept this only because the return shipping would negate any savings.
