I am confused by the other gentleman 's review, in that this unit DOES have low input voltage shut off. The only "danger" is it does not have overload protection, so you can keep adding load and get low and non-sine wave output. It is silent, with a cooling fan (although it has remained cool for me so no fan running, just like the wonderful PST-60S), I run one test with a smart battery charger as input. The battery charger is designed to vary the voltage due to battery charge, not an appliance. It would dramatically change the voltage every 5 seconds or so; the output stayed constant. Very good quality wip plug. I am very happy with this unit.

Great size and very portable, but don't use this product with anything that is voltage sensitive. It does a very good job on Sine Wave, but does not have any under voltage or over temperature protection. I attached a 100 watt incandescent bulb to it and left it in the sun. About an hour later, I checked it, and it was still running (did not shut down or sound an alarm) the case was very hot, no fan was running, and the bulb was at about half brightness. For testing purposes, I was using the "P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor" and the voltage read 70 volts. For another test, I plugged in an extra 40 watt light bulb (so 140 watts total), and again, the unit did not shut down nor alarm, but bulbs were dim and the voltage dropped to 80 volts.Apparently this was NOT a defective unit because I contacted the manufacturer, and they told me I need a the Samlex "SA" line of inverters which have under/over voltage and temperature protection.
