The tripp lite 20 amp power strips is heavy duty good quality power strip with an extra long and thick guage cable. You won't find many selection out there for a 20amp power strips like this, most of them are just your typical 15 ampps. Be sure you have a 20amp Circuit to plug this into!

There is nothing wrong with this surge protector, but it does come with a NEMA plug. This information isn't on Amazon's description, but I did find it on Tripp Lite's site. Originally I ordered 5 and one of those 5 had a standard plug, the other 4 had a NEMA plug, so I thought Amazon sent the wrong thing and requested an exchange. When I got the 4 new ones in today and they all had the NEMA plugs, I called Amazon customer service. They were great in working with me to get these refunded.I did suggest they update the description so people would know that it wasn't a standard plug, but hopefully this review will prevent someone else from ordering the wrong item.

Most power strips are pretty anemic; even if they're rated 15 amps, you're kind of pushing it if you go that far. This strip actually has a proper 20-amp power plug (one prong is rotated 90 degrees) so as to encourage you to only plug it int 20-amp capable outlets. Once that's done, the receptacles on it are very heavy duty, and you can get some serious work done without being concerned that components are heating up or otherwise building up to an impending failure. In cases where you're using power tools, even when they're designed to work under 15 amps, this is better than a normal strip because you'll get less voltage drop, and you're working quite a bit further inside the maximum ratings of the device. The covered power switch and breaker are nice touches, and I positively love the long, long cord: 15 feet! (Manufacturers take note... six feet isn't always enough. Please offer this kind of length as an option.) The unit comes with a lifetime warranty, and I think that tells you something about how it's built -- the manufacturer doesn't expect you to be able to hurt the thing in normal use. Kind of makes those 30...60 day warranties on those cheap imports look... cheap.
