3Good but sluggish Editing knob.
By Rodo
This review is for the function generator SFG-2110 (the seller gets 5 stars). The function generator performs fine when using the keypad to enter the frequency or any other parameter. There is a big knob (Editing knob) that can be use to change parameters as well (like frequency or duty cycle). But you have to turn the knob ... s l o w l y, close to one notch per second. It doesn't respond faster than that. There is nothing wrong with the unit. I call technical support at GW Instek and I was told: "That's normal". It gets annoying if you have to enter the frequency with the keys all the time... but the slow knob is also ...annoying.The good thing is that unlike other function generators that tell you they're 10MHz until you read the fine print and find out that only the sine wave goes that high, this is 10MHz on all the waveforms.Take care.

5Best for the cost.
By Charles A. Schuler
I had to replace a Tektronix FG507 that became unreliable. I was a bit uneasy about my choice until it was delivered two days ago. Nice, solid, easy to use instrument. In my case, there was no need to read the manual but I did anyway and must compliment GwInstek on a job well done ... that includes the manual and the instrument. It is really easy to use and the controls are intelligently labeled. You should be up and running in no time.I have bench-tested the instrument and can verify that all is well. I have not tested the frequency counter as that is not a priority here. However, I'd venture a guess that it also works according to the specifications. It is a DDS generator and thus it does not behave exactly like a VFO (variable frequency oscillator with smooth, analog changes). I mention this as some folks might expect an analog (continuous)control response. What is cool is the mHz resolution and functions way beyond my old function generator. AM, FM, sweep (mine had that), 150 MHz frequency counter (not tested yet), stored and recalled settings, and so on.The build quality is excellent ... a robust unit with heft and the controls feel great!More information: (1)the frequency counter works fine. I initially did not intend to use that function but find it to be convenient. (2)the TTL output has quick rise time, in the one to two nanosecond region which adds value to this instrument for evaluating bandwidth in 100 - 200 MHz region. Thus, 5 stars.

5Nice function generator for the price!
By James W. Edwards
Shipment of product was fast. I did alot of comparison shopping before settling on this unit. Can't beat it for the features! It's very easy to use, as I was up and running within 5 minutes of scanning manual and turning it on. Appears to be of good quality and functions like a charm.
