Introduction:

The only plug and play small grid tie photovoltaic system; The stackable small grid tie photovoltaic system

Installation:

The individual system of SGPV is shown in Figure 2

1,Installing the solar panel of the SGPV at a suitable location that sunshine can irradiate on it.

2,Connecting the cables of the solar panel to the DC input terminals of the small grid tie inverter of the SGPV, inserting the plug of the inverter into the socket of the home grid.

3,When the sun shines, the SGPV will convert the solar energy to the home grid.

SGPV can be stackable, and all SGPVs are independent each other. The total power converting to the grid is the total power of all SGPVs. The installation of each SGPV is same. Connecting large quantity of SGPV to the grid, this will construct high-power grid-tie system.

5Works with the Grape Solar 250W Mono!
By Edward Lee
I bought a Grape Solar 250W Mono panel here on Amazon.I bought one Grid Tie Inverter 500W 24-52V here on Amazon.I bought the Solar Panel wires and the MC4 plugs here on Amazon.I bought the Sockit box, and placed the inverter inside it. The inverter stayed dry through Hurricane Sandy, so I'd say the Sockit box is waterproof. It works. I'm getting 178W 1.5A input as measured on Kill-A-Watt.

4tiny grid tie inverter
By martae
What I really like about this product, is the price per watt, and the inherent redundancy of having several inverters. What I don't like, is that it is almost certainly not able to be installed outdoors. I've got a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering technology, so I could wire a dedicated circuit for the things. Not just anyone should do this, so consider hiring an electrician to wire a new circuit for you, or to disconnect all the outlets, or lighting from an existing circuit, leaving one outlet for the inverters. If you use a dedicated circuit, along with a correctly sized breaker, you don't have to worry about overloading the circuit, due to the inverters feeding power to a load on the circuit, in parallel with the utility, and exceeding the capacity of the wire. I'd use a 240 volt circuit, with a neutral, and put half of them on each leg. They automatically turn off, if they detect no utility power, as a safety feature so you won't electrocute the poor linesman trying to restore service. You might be able to run them during a power outage, by turning off the main breaker to your home, and providing "utility" power from a small battery powered inverter. You might still have load balancing problems, depending on the design of the inverters. People will say that this is dangerous, but probably not as dangerous as using candles. A friend of mines apartment building was burned, when someone living upstairs from her left a candle burning, and went to work during a ten day power outage, after a hurricane.

5Exactly what I expected
By john k leonard jr
This is a really great unit. It definitely worked as described. I connected 2 250 Watt Grape Solar Panels to it using 8 AWG stranded. I used the Kill-o-watt device to measure the output. Here in N. Virginia I get over 2 kWh on a good day and about 1 kWh on a rainy day. There are a couple of things I would tell people to avoid problems. Don't mount this unit in a hot attic. The unit will get so hot it is uncomfortable to the touch. I would say it is best to mount these where is will stay room temperature or cooler. If it is mounted in a hot space the terminal lugs will loosen up, maybe because the aluminium lugs expands. I think I would have put more space between the lugs, but over all I really liked this unit.
